Day 1-2: Catania

Catania is a street food paradise! For lunch, enjoy some bites at the pescheria (Fish market) or dive into an Arancino (fried rice ball): the classic Ragu or Norma fillings are a must-try. The best spot to grab one is Savia, you can have your Arancino take away and eat it in the Vincenzo Bellini Gardens, right in front of Savia, to soak in some greenery whilst enjoying probably the most iconic Sicilian dish. For dinner, explore the fresh seafood at a local trattoria: A Putia dell’Ostello, or for an authentic Pasta alla Norma, you can try Trattoria da Antonio. If you dare, don’t miss the horse meat in Via Plebiscito, just make sure you buy it from places like Achille e Nta Za Rosa. For a more scenic dinner around the Castello Ursino you’ll find Camelot, the best place for a local meat feast.
Beyond Catania
We strongly recommend leave a half day to visit nearby Acitrezza and Acicastello. Two tiny coastal towns not far from Catania, with some of the most stunning views. Here you’ll find an ancient Norman Castle built on volcanic rocks that are millions of years old and a stunning view over the Faraglioni rocks that emerge from the sea. The best time to visit would be around sunset.
Day 2-3 Taormina & Isola Bella
From the rugged charm of Catania, journey north to the refined elegance of Taormina (about an hour’s drive). Perched on a cliff overlooking the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, Taormina is Sicily’s postcard-perfect gem. It’s the main pedestrian street, brimming with chic boutiques, cafes, and gelato shops and enjoy the view at PIazza XXV Aprile. Oh and speaking of gelato, in Taormina you can find one of the best granitas of the whole island at Bam Bar, make sure you pay them a visit
Pro tip: Granita is a breakfast item, but Bam Bar is opened all day, if you go later in the afternoon you might find less queue 😉
Isola Bella & Castelmola
If you wanna go for a swim, there’s no better place than nearby Isola Bella: a tiny, picturesque island nature reserve connected to the mainland by a narrow sandbar. Spend an afternoon here, swimming in its turquoise waters or simply relaxing on the pebbly beach. It’s a slice of paradise that perfectly complements Taormina’s historical charm. You can reach it via a cable car from Taormina center.
Another shop trip not far from Taormina is the tranquil Castelmola: A charming hilltop village above Taormina, with even more spectacular views and DELICIOUS local almond wine.
Day 3-4 Mount Etna

Savor Local Delights
Ortygia is famous for a legendary sandwich, head to Caseificio Borderi and you will be astonished by the size of the panini and the abundance of fillings. Borderi is an institution and it’s a must visit place for foodies. As dusk approaches, Enjoy fresh seafood at one of the many restaurants overlooking the harbor. Try the ‘pasta con le sarde’ (pasta with sardines) or ‘polpette di neonata’ (whitebait fritters). If you want to truly treat yourself try Don Camillo: Upscale, featured on the Micheline guide, incredible cuisine in a historic setting. Day 7-9: Noto, Modica & Scicli

Noto is pretty small and you’ll be able to visit it in a half day.

Next, head to Modica (approx. 30-minute drive). As you already know from our other guides, Modica is famous for its unique Aztec-style chocolate, produced at low temperatures. Indulge in tastings at Dolceria Bonajuto or Pasticceria di Lorenzo. Explore its dramatic Baroque architecture, especially the iconic San Giorgio Cathedral, majestically perched high above the town.
Modica for the Foodies
Around Modica you will find plenty of Agriturismo local farms that cook locally sourced ingredients in the most traditional ways. For around 15 to 20 Euros you can get a huge set menu, Make sure you’re hungry or it’ll be a challenge to finish your meal, you’ll see what we mean when you try!
If you want to stay around town, some of the best places to eat out are Trattoria Ricotta & Co, Osteria dei Sapori Perduti and Putia ro Vinu for traditional modican food. Make sure you try the local street food Scacce, said to have caused the local McDonald’s to go out of business!

Scicli: A Baroque Jewel
Conclude your Baroque journey in Scicli (approx. 20-minute drive from Modica). This ancient town, separated from the newer is a breathtaking cascade of Baroque buildings, narrow streets, and hidden staircases. The churches and palaces scattered around the city center are an architectural marvel. Day 9-10: Agrigento & Departure
For the grand finale of your Ultimate 10 Days in Sicily, we head west to Agrigento (approx. 2.5-3 hour drive from Modica) to witness one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world. This is where ancient Greece truly comes alive on Sicilian soil.
The Valley of the Temples

Scala dei Turchi (Turkish Steps)
If time permits and you’re up for a short detour (about 20 minutes from Agrigento), visit Scala dei Turchi a stunning white marl cliff formation sculpted by wind and sea into a series of natural staircases. It’s a spectacular natural wonder and a great spot for a swim on a hot day. The white cliffs are against the blue sky are a truly incredible sight. You’ll find it hard to take a photo here that won’t look stunning, furthermore, the clay from the cliffs is very good for your skin so feel free to spread some on your face and body, so you’re also getting a free facial right before the end of your vacation.
Departure
On your final day, depending on your flight schedule, you can enjoy a relaxed breakfast in Agrigento before heading to Palermo or Catania airport for your departure. Both are roughly a 2-3 hour drive from Agrigento, offering flexibility for your journey home.
Practical Tips for Your Sicily Adventure
Getting Around:
While public transport exists, renting a car is highly recommended for this Ultimate 10 Days in Sicily to truly explore at your own pace, especially for the Val di Noto and Etna excursions. Roads are generally good, but some city centers have ZTLs (limited traffic zones) so be aware!
